Meet Jennifer Vassel, author and founder of I Am Unique! - a self-love and empowerment brand.

Jennifer Vassel is a Jamaican-American author based in Southern California. It wasn’t until 2012 that she decided to expound on her passion for writing and creating. During his New Year’s Eve 2012 sermon, Bishop Dale Bronner said, “Don’t die with your gifts still inside of you. Impart to others what was entrusted to you.”

Talk about an “ah-ha!” moment. She knew it was time to tap into her heART and pursue her purpose. She spent the next year putting together a collection of poems and short stories written over the span of 20 years. My Channeled Energy was later birthed in 2014, becoming an Amazon #1 Bestseller.

Since her publication, she has been focused on growing and producing more in her creative space. Her current project is “I Am Unique!” – a children’s book and empowerment brand about self-love and sharing your unique gifts with the masses. The book stemmed from her own childhood insecurity of having a birthmark. She wrote the story to inspire young girls and women alike to rise above their insecurity, and use it to impact the world.

When I was growing up, I didn’t come across many children’s books out there with people who looked like me talking about birthmarks, insecurities, or self-love for that matter. Because of that, I wrote “I Am Unique!” to empower girls to embrace their uniqueness, share their natural gifts, and to live life undimmed.

Jennifer is a cat-lover who is passionate about inspiring others to tap into their natural gifts and living life filled with purpose and intention. When she asked her closest friends and family members to share five character traits about her, they said determined, passionate, smart, brave, and ambitious.  She has a Bachelor’s degree from Loyola Marymount University and a Master’s degree from Azusa Pacific University. When she’s not using her creative juices, you can find Jennifer sipping tea, shopping online for the “look for less,” or binge-watching movies on the Lifetime Movie Network.

For more on Jennifer's journey, you can catch her covering topics on personal growth and entrepreneurship over on her blog.

Our Mission

Our mission is to inspire kids (and adults) to rise above their insecurities and share their unique gifts with the world.

Our Core Values

  • We understand that representation matters. Children not only need to see themselves reflected on the pages, but behind the pages.

  • We do not need to hide a part of ourselves in order for our natural gifts to shine.

  • We strive to use our insecurities as a source of inspiration to create impact.

  • We are purpose-driven and dedicated to the mission.

  • We are consumer-focused and aim to serve our customer’s needs.
